A note from the founder
“The people who weave India's most beautiful cloth are disappearing. We started Sarasi to put their names back where they belong — on the tag, on the invoice, on this website.”
Sarasi began with a question we couldn't shake: why does a handloom saree that takes a weaver six months to make end up with the weaver getting paid less than the dry cleaner who presses it?
We don't take any of this for granted. Every piece on this site is one we've seen on the loom, with a person we've met in their workshop, paid fairly and on time. If you wear something from Sarasi, you're wearing their craft, their hours, their living.

A single Banarasi can take a weaver six months on a pit loom — every motif counted thread by thread. Power-loom replicas take an afternoon, but they lose the texture, the fall, the soul. We sell only the slow ones.
How We Source
One artisan at a time
We meet every weaver in person, see their loom, hear their story. We pay 30% upfront and full price on completion — never the wholesale margin that’s killing the craft. Every saree on Sarasi traces back to a real person.
